The Urdu and Persian poetry of Allama Muhammad Iqbal today, is as fresh as it were 90 years before. He was not just a poet. Allam Muhammad Iqbal was a very good Barrister, philosopher, politician and teacher. The first Urdu book of Allama Iqbal (Baang e Dra) was published in 1924. Iqbal express his thoughts in Persian for a predominant period of his career and after 1930.  He is considered as one of the most important personality in Urdu and Persian literature. The second Urdu Poetry book of Allama Iqbal was (Baal e Jibriel) published in 1935, Followed by Armaghan e Hijaz in 1936. Allama Muhammad Iqbal wrote three Urdu poetry books, seven
persian poetry books and 3 prose books, one in Urdu language and two in English.Iqbal wrote two English Prose books on the topic of The Development of Metaphysics in Persia and The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam.

We can say that Allama Iqbal Started his poetry in Urdu then, he subsequently moved to Persian and he wrote most of his poetry in Persian.Iqbal was influenced by the teachings of Shams al-’Ulama’  Syed Mir Hassan (1844 – 1929) was a scholar of the Qur'an, Hadith, Sufism, and the Arabic language. He was a professor of Arabic at Scotch Mission College in Sialkot from wher Iqbal got his early education.Allam Muhammad Iqbal ws also influenced by Sir Thomas Arnold, his philosophy teacher atGovernment college Lahore, Arnold's teachings determined Iqbal to pursue higher education in the West. In 1905, he went to  England for his higher education.  In 1906, he was called to the bar as a barrister from Lincoln's Inn. In 1907, Iqbal moved to Germany to study doctorate and earned Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Ludwig Maximilian University, Munich in 1908. Working under the guidance of Friedrich Hommel, Iqbal  published his doctoral thesis in 1908 entitled: The Development of Metaphysics in Persia During Iqbal's stay in Heidelberg, Germany in 1907 his German teacher Emma Wegenast taught him about Goethe's Faust, Heine and Nietzsche. During his study in Europe Iqbal began to write poetry in Persian. He prioritized it because he believed he had found an easy way to express his thoughts.
